Mrs. Jenita Ledington Bennett, age 92, of Trace Branch, KY, passed away on Tuesday, January 28, 2014, at her son's home. She was the daughter of the late Charlie and Maude (Disney) Barnes, born to them at Girdler, KY on December 28, 1921. She was a member of the Beacon Baptist Church. She was a former employee of Warners and American Greetings, from where she retired.
On December 21, 1941, she united in marriage to Sandford Ledington, and to this union one son was born. Sandford preceded her in death on May 23, 1992. In December 1996, she united in marriage to Ester Bill Bennett, who also preceded her in death on January 9, 2009, and one great grandson, Peyton Tye Ledington, in November 2000. Also preceding her is death were her parents, Charlie and Maude Barnes, four brothers, Dallas, Denver, Edward, and Bobby Barnes, six sisters, Clida and Effie Barnes, Minnie Sobieck, Dorothy Stewart, Nettie Cobb Wagers, and Georgia Morris.
Mrs. Jenita Ledington Bennett is survived by one son, Gary Ledington and wife Sandy, two grandsons, Alan Tye Ledington and wife Helena, Steven Ray Ledington and wife Londa, three great granddaughters, Emma, Kaylee, and Marlee Ledington, one brother, Andrew Barnes, two sisters, Pearl Hall and husband Ed of Statesville, North Carolina, Joann Smith and husband I. J. of Romulus, Michigan, a special dear friend, Creed Smith of Girdler, plus a host of other relatives and friends who mourn her passing.
Funeral services for Mrs. Jenita Ledington Bennett will be conducted in the Hampton Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, February 1, 2014, at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Kelly Barnes and Rev. Vernon Morris officiating. Burial will follow in the Trace Branch Community Cemetery at Trace Branch, KY. Pallbearers will be E. G. Abner, Wayne Abner, Beckham Taylor, Jr., Kenny Barnes, Gary Smith, Jerry Ledington, Carl Gene Morris, and Windell Hinkle. Hampton Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
Friends will be received on Friday evening from 6:00 - 9:00 p.m., and on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service at 2:00 p.m.

Dear Granny, I love you very much. You were the highlight of my day. I loved when you wanted me to come to you, you would say Kay Lee. It was like my first name was two separate words. You meant so much to me. I'll see you when the Lord calls me home. I miss you so very much.
