Kenneth L. Patten, 87 of Coldwater formerly of Tekonsha, died March 28, 2014 at the Laurels of Coldwater. He was born January 26, 1927 in Bridgewater Twp., Ohio to E.L and Pauline (Brown) Patten. Kenneth grew up in the Branch County area. He graduated from Tekonsha High School in 1945 going directly into the US Army Air Corp.
He married Marjorie Phelps Dec. 14, 1946 in Tekonsha. She survives. They settled in Tekonsha in 1947 where he farmed, worked at a factory in Marshall, drove a milk route, worked as a car hauler and in 1953 became the Postmaster in Tekonsha where he stayed for 13 years. He then became a rural carrier in Tekonsha and Coldwater, retiring in 1983.
He belonged to the Loyal Order of the Moose #676, the Homer VFW, and the Coldwater Eagles.
He is survived by 3 children Sharron (Gary) Davis of Tekonsha, Katy (Ken) Barber of Ellenton, FL and Connie (Ken) Behling of Coldwater, also, 6 grandchildren, 15 great grand children and 2 great great grandchildren, Nephew David Buskirk and niece Debbie Christner.
Ken was predeceased by his parents, a son Wade and a sister Barbara Buskirk.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday April 1, 2014 at the Union Church United Church of Christ in Tekonsha at 1:00 pm with 2 hours of visitation prior to the service beginning at 11:00 am. Rev. Barbara Pryor will officiate. Memorial contributions may be given to Stars and Stripes Honor Flight P.O. Box 636 Port Washington, WI 53074.
