Lyle Daniel Heilman, 84 born May 15, 1928, a Korean War Veteran and lifelong resident of the Village of Florida, Ohio fought his last earthly battle and now enjoys victory in the presence of the Lord. Lyle departed this world in the same manner as he lived his life, with dignity in the presence of his family.
Lyle Heilman served his country by enlisting in the United States Marine Corps in 1946, was honorably discharged, and then drafted in the United States Army in 1950. Following his honorable service with the 38th ordinance Group during the Korean War, Lyle married Judy Farison on November 25, 1953.
Lyle was a dedicated Past Commander of the Florida American Legion Post 654 Gerken Hard, a Past Commander of the Henry County Council American Legion where he honored his fallen brothers as a member of Post 300 Honor Guard by presenting flags at funerals for veterans. Lyle was also a member of the AMVETS #1313, VFW #8218, Graybeards, (Korean Veterans Association), DAV #30, Crosley Automobile Club, Antique Auto Association, Florida Methodist Church, Northwestern Ohio Micro Midget Club. Lyle is also honored as a Village of Florida Councilman for 40 years and for Heilman Racing as Head Crew Chief.
Lyle is survived by his wife Judy , sons Mark (Anita) Heilman, Todd (Marsha) Heilman; grandchildren Wyatt Heilman, John (Erin) Black, Kristin (Brad) Leaders, great grandchildren Brayden Black, Parker Black, Jacob Leaders and Addison Leaders, nephews Earl Mann and Harold James Mann. He is preceded in death by his parents and stepmother Sophia Heilman and sister Marian Heilman Mann.
Lyle was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. The life of Lyle Heilman is celebrated by all that knew him as honest and noble.
Visitation for Lyle will be on Wednesday January 2, 2013 at Walker Mortuary from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held in honor of Lyle on Thursday January 3rd at 10:30 a.m. at the Florida United Methodist Church with Pastor Rick Snyder officiating. Interment will follow at the Florida Cemetery where Military Rites will be accorded by the Joint Veterans Post of Napoleon. Memorials for Lyle may be made to the Henry County Red Cross , Henry County Humane Society of a charity of the donors choice.

I wanted to say this at the funeral: He will be (greatly) missed at our family reunions. They won't be the same without him, but there is peace and comfort knowing he is happier where he is now. God's Blessings to all!
