LaVonne Monica Warner, a Bend resident, passed away on March 1, 2014 at Partners-In-Care Hospice House of Bend. She was 94 years old.
She was born on June 6, 1919 in Randolph, Nebraska to August and Sadie Wintz. After graduating from high school, she taught school in a one-room schoolhouse in rural Nebraska, kindergarten through eighth grade. She married Ferris W. "Jack" Warner in Cheyenne, Wyoming, on July 8, 1941. After Jack's discharge from the Army, they resided in Wayne, Nebraska, where all four of their daughters were born. They moved to the Cedar Hills area in southwest Portland in 1957.
LaVonne was a fabulous homemaker and loving mother. She loved to dance. She made the best fried chicken in the world. She was an artist and did exquisite pastel paintings and also enjoyed china painting. She also liked refinishing antique furniture. She assisted with Jack's business in the apparel industry and loved modeling and always looking her best. She was well known in the Beaverton area for having semi-annual sample dress sales. After Jack's passing in 1980, LaVonne and her youngest daughter Jacqui continued the family business for a few years and traveled throughout the Pacific Northwest, with LaVonne at the wheel of a 28' Cabana motorhome.
After her retirement, she enjoyed traveling, spending time with her children and grandchildren, and going to Reno and Las Vegas with her companion. She loved Kauai and visited there numerous times where her daughter Suzanne lived.
In 2009, LaVonne moved to the Tumalo area of Bend with her daughter Jacqui and son-in-law Randy. She enjoyed spending time on the computer, checking her Facebook page, bird watching, and going on drives. Although she had numerous health problems, she rarely complained and always had a positive attitude and a beautiful smile.
She is survived by daughters Barbara Thomas of Bend, Oregon; Suzanne M.M. Warner of Phoenix, Oregon; Jane (Randy) Miller of Terrebonne, Oregon; and Jacquelyn (Randy) Robinson of Bend, Oregon. She leaves 7 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, F.W. Jack Warner in 1980, her parents, her sisters Bernadette Huwaldt and Dorothy Wattier; brother Herbert "Bud" Wintz; and grandson Tyrel Miller, and great-great granddaughter SaRenaty Elizabeth Bristow.
There will be an inurnment service at Skyline Memorial Gardens in Portland later this Spring.

Mom was so creative! Sewing or remaking clothes for us, really good comfort food (I still can't make fried chicken or chicken soup like she did). We had the most amazing gardens in almost every house we lived in, and always had enough extra to put up for the winter. She taught me how to be creative with color. I learned how to be frugal even when I didn't realize it. I learned that you do not leave the house without looking put together even if you are just going to the grocery store. And boy did we have some great political discussions! Curious and interested almost until the last few days. She was quite a Mom.

I am going to miss my Mom every day. We shared many conversations about art, birds, history, food. She was extremely funny, observant, generous, wise and fearless. She looked everything in the eye straight on and was adept at enjoyment. She was proud of her looks and knew how to show them off. She was the best role model anyone could ever ask for. I am so blessed to have had her for my Mom.

BJ & family: My prayers and thoughts are with you during the family's time of sorrow. LaVonne was a special woman and cousin who gave life to 4 wonderful daughters. By meeting BJ, all those years ago in my home in Lincoln, NE, told me LaVonne was a woman of love. May God bless the Warner family.

LaVonne was a marvelous Mother-in-Law, really a lot like my Mom. She was always thinking of and doing for others, never putting herself first. Her life, the last couple of years, was painful and very stressful, yet you never heard her complain, right to the very end. A lesson we could all take to heart. She will be sorely missed, but I am thankful she is free from her worldly troubles and dancing in Heaven.

My mom was my best friend. We shared everything. Obviously she was astonishingly beautiful, but she was also very caring and just like my dad, always put everyone else first. She helped me raise my son and made him into the caring, thoughtful young man he is today. Thank you mom for doing that. I will miss her terribly and will have to re-learn my life because she has been my number one girl for a lot of years. My heart is lifted knowing that she is free from the pain and struggles she endured, and I know that I have the brightest, prettiest star in heaven. Love you mom with all my heart.

Dear BJ, Suzanne, Jayni, and Jacqui. What wonderful memories I have of time spent with all of you before the family got spread separate ways. Aunt LaVonne was a truly beautiful lady and has left an amazing legacy in her daughters and grandchildren. May you gain strength and comfort from that knowledge.
