Scherffius, Lawrence M,79, Fortified with the Sacraments of Holy Mother Church on Thursday September 9, 2010. The beloved husband of Patricia Scherffius (nee Enright); loving father of Kathy Hunt of St. Louis, Larry Michael Scherffius of Ferguson, Saundra Bresley of Farmington and Lance Scherffius of Ferguson; dear grandfather of Paula Hunt, Theresa Hunt, Melissa Bryan, Jennifer Duerscheidt, David Carter, Billy Scherffius, Emily Scherffius, William Mark Scherffius and Christy Soltes; cherished great-grandpa of Kate, Ebony, Tommy, Evan, Anna Bell and Elliott (Ellie); dear brother of Linda Watkins of New Mexico and Connie Hoosier of Sikeston. Lawrence was preceded in death by his parents Minnie Mae and William Eli Scherffius, his brother JP Scherffius and son Lyndon Mark Scherffius.
Lawrence was born in Portageville, Missouri on December 5, 1930 and graduated from Bell City School. He worked as a farmer in his early years and later took a job with McDonnell Doulas as a truck driver retiring after 25yrs of service in 1993 with a clean no accident award. Lawrence had many special achievements over the years, little league coach, Neighborhood watch, Citizen Police Academy and Korean War Era U.S. Air Force Veteran.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday September 13, 2010 at 10:00AM Blessed Teresa of Calcutta Chapel in Ferguson, Missouri. Interment will take place at Memorial Park Cemetery in Sikeston, Missouri on Monday. Visitation Sunday September 12, 2010 from 4-8 PM at White-Mullen Mortuary 118 N. Florissant Rd. Ferguson, MO.
