LEONARD BAKKEN
Leonard Bakken of Rockglen, Saskatchewan, passed away on January 29th, 2011, at the age of 66 years. He was raised in Tompkins/Shaunavon area by his parents, Clarence and Debra Bakken, whom are now deceased.
As a young man he worked on the family farme and when he was 16 came down to the Killdeer area to work. He worked for many farmers in the Killdeer, Fir Mountain, and Harptree areas during the 1960’s.
Carol (Wolfe) and Leonard were married April 4th, 1970 and have one son Michael who was born January 8th, 1973.
Leonard spent his life outdoors working and playing. He enjoyed snowmobiling in the winter and hunting gophers in the summer and wild game in the fall.
Leonard could cut a mean rug, enjoying dancing with Carol at many of the community dances held around the country.
Over the past year Leonard had retired somewhat and enjoyed going for coffee on ‘Coffee row’ to visit. He liked his game of cribbage, watching the game shows on TV and anyone that stopped in was always welcomed with coffee and conversation.
