Lloyd Stancil Gardner, 80, passed away on March 4,2O13. A service honoring and celebrating his life will be held on Monday, March 4, 3:30 pm at Reddicks Grove Baptist Church, 1800 Reddicks Grove Church Road, Williamston, NC. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery. Family will receive friends during a visitation on Sunday, March 3, 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm, Biggs Funeral Home and at other times at the family residence, 902 Hyland Avenue, Williamston, NC. Born on September 9,1932, Stancil was the son of the late Willie Mayo Gardner and Eva Modlin Gardner. A native of Martin County, Stancil grew up in Jamesville, graduating from Jamesville High School in 1951. Upon graduation, he served in the military during the Korean conflict. Following his military service, he married Angelene Dickerson on May 18, 1958, and together they established a loving home and raised a family in Williamston, NC. For 42 years, Stancil worked as an lndustrial Sales Manager at East Carolina Supply Company in Plymouth, NC. He was a faithful member of Reddicks Grove Baptist Church where he served in many roles, including Sunday School teacher and Deacon. Stancil loved people, and he had a compassionate devotion to family and friends. His love for gardening and working outdoors brought him many hours of pleasure. He especially enjoyed spending time with his granddaughter, Rebecca, and traveling with her on many journeys exploring new, exciting places and adventures.
ln addition to his parents, Stancil was preceded in death by an infant sister, Mavis Gardner, and a brother, Willie Horton Gardner, as well as many dear aunts and uncles. He will be deeply missed by his wife, Angelene (Angie) Gardner of 54 years; son Lloyd Gardner of Raleigh, NC; daughter Beth Lamb of Williamston; granddaughter Rebecca Lamb of Williamston; and numerous family and friends.
Flowers are welcome or memorial contributions may be made to Reddicks Grove Baptist Church, 1800 Reddicks Grove Church Road, Williamston, NC.
