Marilyn Roblee Obituary

Visit the Legacy Remembers website to view the full obituary.

Marilyn Lysaght Roblee, 90, of Sheboygan passed peacefully from this world on May 2, 2014 surrounded by her family after a full and wonderful life.
Marilyn, born November 2, 1923, was raised in Milwaukee by John and Helen Lysaght. She married Douglas J. Roblee and ultimately settled in Sheboygan. Marilyn is survived by three sons Dr. John (Maggi) of Sheboygan, Paul (Ruth) of Grafton, and Cliff (Joanne) of Davis, CA along with nine grandchildren (Jack, Ellen, Rebecca, Elizabeth, Rheanna, Jennifer, Douglas, Colette and Madelyn), three great-grandchildren (Ashton, Jamison, and Carson) and sister-in-law Janet Morris of Milwaukee and her children (Jim, Lynn). She is preceded in death by her loving husband of nearly 50 years, Douglas Roblee, by her only daughter Kathy (Jean) of Almond, WI, and by special friend of recent years Dan Wahlen of Sheboygan, WI.
Marilyn is remembered as a lively spirit, a good friend, a dedicated and loving wife and mother, and the center of the family hearth. She had a special gift to effortlessly find connections to all those around her, and found joy and meaning in the world's most simple gifts and profound mysteries. She had a clever wit and loved to share a good laugh. She had particular fondness for spending one-on-one time with her grandchildren, and each felt uniquely loved and appreciated.
Marilyn's life was grounded in her home, particularly the one she designed and meticulously maintained for over 35 years on Dennwood Drive. There she cherished the sound of Lake Michigan and the presence of nearby wildlife. She was always on the move and thoroughly enjoyed cooking, homemaking, and entertaining both family and friends. She was an avid Packer's fan who could not be interrupted during a game and often found time for a shrewd hand of sheepshead or bridge. Over the years, she also ventured far and wide with travels ranging from family camping trips, to wanderings throughout the US, to world adventures including Ireland, Sweden, Italy and the Holy Land.
Marilyn attended Holy Angel's High School and Marquette University in Milwaukee, and later completed her Education degree at Silver Lake College in Manitowoc. She was very active in St. Dominic's parish activities and had a strong sense of community service including many years as a volunteer for St. Nicholas Hospital and Meals on Wheels-Sheboygan County. Marilyn always found time to engage both stranger and friend alike on spiritual or material needs. She served as a role model and thoughtful ear for many, and will be dearly missed.
A memorial mass will be celebrated for Marilyn on Thursday, May 8, 2014 at 10:00 AM at St Dominic's Catholic Church, 2133 North 22nd Street. Rev. Daniel Lasecki, Senior Minister, will be the Celebrant. Visitation will begin at 9:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, please remember Marilyn through donations to "Friends of St. Nicholas Hospital", 3100 Superior Avenue, Sheboygan, WI 53081.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Embrace Care Management, Terrace Estates, Morningside Health Center, Sheboygan Memorial Hospital, and Sharon S Richardson Community Hospice for all of their care and support in recent years.
When tomorrow starts without me, please try to understand,
that an angel came and called me and took me by the hand.
And said my place was ready in heaven far above,
and that I'd leave behind all those I dearly loved.
So when tomorrow starts without me, don't think we're far apart,
for every time you think of me, I'm right there in your heart.

My sympathy to Marilyn's family. She was a dear friend of my mother's - Jean Arenz - they played a lot of bridge together in years past. Mom also shared Marilyn with me on several lunch outings to Country Crafts. She was indeed a lovely person.

My sympathy to John Roblee and family. Years ago I worked for Douglas and John Roblee as a dental assistant. Marilyn was such a kind, wonderful person who always had a smile on her face. I saw her from time to time when she was out and about, and she always had a friendly hello and stopped to talk. You were blessed to have her as a mom. My prayers and thoughts are to all of you at this time.

Heaven has gained an angel. Your mom was an active Flu Clinic volunteer for many years and we had many laughs together sharing names of friends we had in common and stories of growing up Catholic, etc. God Bless you Marilyn.
