She was born on April 20, 1989 in Washington DC to Scott and Anne Gaudreau Gilbride. She graduated from Georgetown Visitation Preparatory School and attended Marymount University.
Mary Lacey was a gifted athlete and spent her early years with Ft. Hunt Youth Athletics Association playing both Basketball and Lacrosse. She returned to be a well respected volunteer coach with the 11-12 year old girls.
While in high school Mary Lacey earned four varsity letters in Lacrosse at Georgetown Visitation Preparatory School. She was named Washington Post Player of the Year in 2007 and first-team All-Metro choice in 2008. She excelled at CrossFit, recently competing in the Mid Atlantic Regionals in 2013.
Mary Lacey was also gifted academically and inducted into Delta Epsilon Sigma and Sigma Alpha Pi Honor Societies from Marymount University.
As many of her friends have said, Mary Lacey was a kind, generous person who never failed to have an encouraging word for anyone she encountered. She was the kind of person who made other people want to be around her, and put a smile on the face of everyone she met.
She is survived by her parents Scott and Anne Gilbride of Alexandria VA, sister Lindsay Gilbride of Washington DC, sister Annabelle Gilbride at the University of Denver, maternal grandfather, William Gaudreau of Baltimore, MD and numerous extended family.
Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary Catholic Church, 310 South Royal Street, Alexandria, Virginia 22314 on Monday, September 23, at 10am with visitation at 9am.
