Services for Mary Ellen Jones Vinson "Bimby" will be held Wednesday, January 15, 2014, at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel of Stephens Funeral Home, with Dr. John Temple officiating. Burial will be at Union Baptist Church Cemetery in Sardis, MS.
Mrs. Vinson, 82, passed away on January 11 at Anderson's Hospital.
Mrs. Vinson enjoyed a 33 ½ year career as a schoolteacher in Jackson, MS. During her summers off, she worked at Jackson Paper Company. She loved sewing, gardening, and writing poetry. She was also a very talented artist, particularly with life-like charcoal drawings. She adored her daughter, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and her third grade students.
Mrs. Vinson is survived by her daughter, Mary Beth Sanders (Jimmy); grandchildren Chad Elliott Shedd (Randi Danielle), Brandon Dale Shedd, and Sara Beth Shedd; great-grandchildren Azlynn Leis Shedd and Hunter Jase Shedd; brother Martin Emanuel Jones (Hazel), and sister Annie Jones.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George William Vinson; brothers and sisters, Heskel Butler, Travis Jones, Faye Jones Conner, Ross Jones, Russell Jones, Leland Riales, Thomas Lee Jones, and Martha Jones Lewis.
Visitation will be Tuesday, January 14, from 5-7 p.m. at Stephens Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Union Cemetery, at 5175 Belmont Rd, Hernando, MS or Poplar Springs Drive Baptist Church.

I am so sorry to hear about your mom, Beth. She was such a sweet woman and she loved each of you so very much. She will be missed! My family's thoughts and prayers are with all of you during this difficult time.

Mary Vinson is going to be missed by many people in Meridian. The residents of Silverleaf Manor, loved her she was a friend to all and a very sweet person. She is now with God and in a better place. We also want to let her family know we are very sorry for your loss, God bless you all. Ken Kaminski and the resident and staff of silverleaf manor.
