Norris Childree of Ozark passed away Tuesday, September 2, 2014 at his residence. He was 88 years of age.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm on Friday, September 5, 2014 in the chapel at Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home with Reverend Harold Peters officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memory Gardens with Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be held on Friday from 1:00pm until the time of service at the funeral home.
Mr. Childree was born December 4, 1925 in Dale County, Alabama to Ray and Sula Simmons Childree. He was a WWII U.S. Army Veteran. Mr. Childree loved farming and his cattle and especially playing Dominoes. He retired after 25 years with Dyncorp at Fort Rucker.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Claude, Porter, O'Neal, George, Edgar and Roy Childree; and his sisters, Lorine Morgan and Mary Alice Thompson.
Mr. Childree is survived by his wife of almost 67 years, Verline Baker Childree; his son, Wallace Childree (Tammy) of Ozark; his daughters, Faye Sizemore (Floyd) of Ozark and Debra Garner (Willis) of Ouzinkie, AK; his sister, Sallie Leatherwood of Ozark; his grandchildren, Danny Sizemore (Kim) of Ozark, Shawna Moore (Joe) of Ozark, Brian Childree of Dothan, Jake Garner and Duane Garner both of Anchorage, AK, Megan Childree of Ozark and Dillon Childree of Ozark; also surviving are his great-grandchildren, Ashley Allen of Dothan, Joseph Sizemore (Hannah) of Auburn, Chelsey Sizemore of Ozark, A.J. Allen of New River Marine Corp Air Station, NC., Caleb Moore of Dothan, Austin Moore of Echo, Emily Diocares (David) and Mikel Garner both of Kodiak, AK, Gracie Garner of Ouzinkie, AK, Alyssa Allen of Ozark; his great-great grandchildren, Anslee and Eli Sizemore of Auburn, AL., and Liam Diocares of Kodiak, AK.
