It is with great sadness that the family of James E. Itschner announces his passing on Friday, March 24, 2017 after a long and happy life.
Born in 1928 in Sayre, OK to Rudy and Opal Itschner, Jim worked alongside his father in the ranching business until adulthood when he began his long career as a butcher (Puckett's), supermarket manager (Puckett's and Foodway), division manager (Gibson's), and proprietor of Jim's Meat Market (Seguin, TX). Jim set the standard for customer service and efficient management of his businesses. He sincerely cared for his employees and was a true professional. Jim was also an avid reader, crossword puzzle solver, and a great storyteller who delighted in telling stories of the past to his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife (Marilyn Itschner), brother (Russell Itschner), sister (Gayle Burnum).
He is survived by his daughters, Cherie Landers (Duane White) of Flatonia, TX, Bobbi Rossi (Jerry) of Raleigh, NC, Vickie Saye (Dennis) of Santa Fe, NM; sons, Joel Landers of Austin, TX, Mike Landers (Karin) of San Angelo, TX; granddaughters, Hannah-Skye White and Caitlin Tibbets (John), Crystal Hanson (Chris), Staci Landers, Romni Rossi and Alysa Smith; great-grandchildren, Mason and Layne Tibbets, Christopher and Matthew Hanson, Mia Ekenbarger, and Delaney and Hagen DuCote; brother-in-law, Roy Burnum of Brownwood, TX; nephew, Royce Itschner (Cynthia) of Rockport, TX.

Dear Vickie, Dennis, Crystal, Chris, CJ, Matthew, Bobbi, Jerry, uncle Lynn (Roy) Burnum & the entire family, so very sorry for your loss of a great father, father-in-law, grandfather, great grandfather, brother-in-law! We met this wonderful man years ago in New Mexico at Vickie and Dennis Saye's house and it may have been at Crystal and Chris Hanson's wedding. Jim was a true joy to be around and he was the a man who never met a stranger! The guestbook photo of Jim and his sister Gayle also ignites fun memories, she and uncle "Lynn" Roy were in New Mexico, also. What a wonderful family to know and to each of you family members, a sense of pride should erupt. May all of you find peace and comfort in the memories you were able to make with "Jim" James. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you! May God Bless and keep each one of you in His care! With much love!! The Hemperleys - Skip, Billie & Michelle
