Born in Providence, RI, he was the son of Louis Anthony Masaschi and Pauline Catherine Alvezi. He leaves a twin sister Pauline Masaschi and a younger sister Helene Masaschi.
He attended The Fessendon Elementary School, Tilton Academy in New Hampshire, and Tabor Academy High School in Marion Massachusetts. He attended Norwich University where he was awarded the prestigious Who’s Who among students in America as an athletic scholar with achievements in hockey, and baseball and was captain of the football team. Paul graduated as a Civil Engineer, got married and joined the Army Reserve as a 1st Lt, with training in Fort Knox, Tennessee.
Due to a hardship of his father’s sudden passing he left the Army and took over his father’s construction company and as the President ran a successful business in Sandwich, Massachusetts for over 30 years. He was involved in the restoration of such historical landmarks as the National Seashore, many churches and numerous schools throughout Massachusetts.
Paul was the president of the Bourne Rotary Club, enjoyed coaching youth hockey and opened his house and heart to any child that came through his door. He was an extremely kind and generous person who will be deeply missed.
Paul married his college sweetheart Mary Ann Read and they just celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary. They raised five children including Paul L. Masaschi Jr., Nancy L Masaschi, Louis R. Masaschi and wife Jeannette, Lisa A. Masaschi Heaney, and Thomas E. Masaschi and wife Kara. Buzz has been blessed with 8 grandchildren, Ashley, Joshua, Sarah, Olivia, Madeline, Luke, Will, and Louie.
Paul dedicated his life to the happiness and well-being of his wife and children. He found tremendous enjoyment skiing with his grandchildren in Vermont, fishing and lobstering in Buzzards Bay and attending his families sporting events. He lived his life to the fullest and enjoyed every minute of it.
Visiting Hours for Paul will be held on Monday from 4-8PM in the Nickerson-Bourne Funeral Home, 40 MacArthur Blvd., Bourne. Funeral Service on Tuesday at 11AM in Bourne United Methodist Church, 37 Sandwich Rd., Bourne. Burial to follow in Sandwich Town Cemetery. Relatives and friends invited.
