As so many colleagues at St John's University, New York, I was saddened to hear of Pauline's passing. (Her son, John Egan, phoned me just today.) When I was teaching sections of Shakespeare and also Global Literature at the Manhattan campus of St John's, I got to know Pauline; and I shall always remember our lively & lavish luncheon at "21" in Manhattan, shortly after I left her campus. She was a special person, and she made a lifetime contribution to her university and to New York City. Pauline will be remembered with affection and gratitude. My condolences to her family, especially to her husband Pat Egan.
