Phil A. Hanson, 75 of Athens, went to be with the Lord Friday September 16, 2011 at his home. He was born Aug. 29, 1936 in Clarksville, MI the son of Cecil and Lillian (Velliquette) Hanson. He married N. Jeanne Bird July 26, 1958 in Battle Creek.
Phil had lived in Athens for 41 years and was employed by Kellogg's for 31 years retiring in 1991.He was a member of the 25 Year Club.
He is survived by his wife, N. Jeanne Hanson, daughters Tamela (Craig) Stuck of Union City, Dawn Burdick of Leonidas. Sons, Timothy Hanson, Marc Anderson of Elk Rapids and Jeff Anderson of Coldwater, 7 grand children and 12 great grandchildren. Five brothers, Virgil(Betty), Michael(Deanne),Milton(Joan), Norman(Barb), and Alan(Polly) Hanson. One sister, Karen(Wayne) Jahnke. Also, a sister- in- law, Ellen Hanson survives. He was predeceased by his parents, and one brother Larry.
Phil was a member of the Factoryville Bible Church where he enjoyed working on many building projects.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to Factoryville Bible Church, Factoryville Christian School or the Parkinson's Foundation.
Visitation will be Monday from 4-8 PM at the Putnam Funeral Home in Union City. Funeral services will be Tuesday 11:00 AM at the Factoryville Bible Church with Pastor Fred Goebert officiating. Military Honors will take place at 2:00 PM in the Riverside Cemetery, Union City.

Phil & I were classmates, graduated U.C.H.S. together in 1954. Our friendship extended into adulthood. He was an outstanding scholar & a Good Friend. We'll all miss Phil & his gentle kind smile.....
