Randall Stupey Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 6, 2012.

Randall (Randy, DeDe) Alan Stupey left us suddenly and tragically in a hiking accident on August 31, 2012. He was born on January 22, 1982 in Bellevue, Washington to Lauray and John Stupey.

Randy grew up in Everett, Washington where he attended St. Mary Magdalen grade school. He went on to O'Dea High School in Seattle where many strong, true, and lasting friendships were made. Randy graduated from the University of Portland in Oregon in 2004 and returned to Everett.

Randy was a self-employed businessman and skilled carpenter and also worked in the Stupey Insurance Agency, with his father and sister, Shellie.

In November of 2004 he met the love of his life, his wife, Elene, and they were blessed with two darling sons, Landon (3) and Parker (2). Randy was an incredible father who cherished his children and loved spending every possible minute with them. Randy's amazing smile, infectious sense of humor and love of family have left giant footprints in the hearts of all who loved him.

He leaves his wife, Elene; sons, Landon and Parker; his parents, Lauray and John; his brother, John, Jr. and his wife, Becci; his brother, Jamie and his wife Kris; sister, Lauray Michelle; sister, Lisette Coté and her husband, Daren; brother, Ryan and his wife, Jamie Rose and his sister, Regan. Randy's nieces and nephews include: Beta and Jordan Stupey, Johnnie and Jenna Stupey, Andrew and Sam Stupey, Kjerstin and Alexandra Stupey, Braden, Bryce, Brianne and Brian Coté, Ryan Jr., Brantly, Jackie and Josie Stupey and Francesca and Theo Wanamaker; all adored their fun-loving "Uncle DeDe" and will miss him greatly. He is also survived by his grandfather, Herb Knudson, Sr. and his loving aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Lauretta Knudson, Irene and Joseph Stupey, and his cousin Christopher Stupey.

Our world was forever changed when he was born and completed "The Stupey Seven." He brought joy, laughter, love and loyalty to everyone who was lucky enough to know him. He was everyone's best friend, everyone's favorite uncle; the world's greatest little brother; an all-around great man who could be witty, warm and wise beyond his years.

Our lives are forever better for having had him here.

"He soared like an eagle" and is now at home in the loving arms of God.

The family is requesting that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the "JSL Trust" for Landon and Parker Stupey PO BOX 1887 Everett WA 98206 or to Snohomish County Search and Rescue.

Funeral Mass will be held at 1:00 pm, Monday, September 10, 2012 at St. Mary Magdalen Parish, 8517 7th Avenue SE Everett WA 98208.

We were so sorry and sad to hear about Randy. We remember when we moved in next door to you in Everett and he was just a kid. He would play wiffle ball and sometimes come over smiling to retrieve a ball from our backyard. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this very sad time.

To the Stupey Family and the Knudson Family. Our hearts and prayers go out to you at this time of extreme sadness. We shared so many wonderful Fourth of July holidays together watching Randy, the rest of the kids and the entire family grow over the years. Although we hadn't seen Randy in some time, it is warming to look at the photo gallery and see what a wonderful, handsome, family man he had become. We know what a horrific loss this is to all of you. Please know that we feel so fortunate to have known Randy and that we share your sorrow.
All our love to the entire family and especially to Randy's wife and sons,

We fondly remember Randy from his participation in the O'Dea drama production of "Dracula". He was a freshman and really enthusiastic about his role. His character had a Western/cowboy flair and it made us laugh when he would practice "fast draws" in the mirror backstage (he didn't know we were watching). We send our prayers and wish his family peace.

Ralph Waldo Emerson said: "To laugh often and much; To win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; To earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; To appreciate beauty, to find the best in others; To leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch, or a redeemed social condition; To know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded." Randall succeeded. My thoughts are with all of you.

I knew Randy from High School... he is definitely one of the funniest people I have known and got me in trouble a couple times because I couldn't stop laughing. Will never forget his sense of humor and energy that kept us in good spirits after the car we were in broke down on the side of I-90 sophomore year.

Truly sad to learn of his death. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.

Many hikers whether we personally knew Randy or not are feeling the pain and sorrow of losing one of our own. Most dont know where the trail is to Lake Simms but if we did, there would be too many crosses to count at the mossy boulder. I for one would be there to place a wildflower and say BY to one who also loved nature. Can you show us the way? God Bless you, your wife and your children from this day forward.

Dear John, Lauray, Elene and all Randy's family,
Words cannot begin to express the incredible sadness and loss that Mike and I felt upon hearing of Randy's death. We can't imagine the hole he leaves or the grief that you all feel. Whenever I drive by O'Dea I will often laugh out loud thinking about the crazy afternoons trying to teach Randy and the other guys the song and dance routines that they performed for the auctions. Randy did instigate many a crazy moment and he will always be alive in our hearts. God Bless you all. We will be praying that God's mercy and light will fill the void during this terribly difficult time. With heartfelt sorrow,

Dear Stupey Family,
I knew Randy from a distance when he was an altar server at SJ. But didn't really get to appreciate his whole personality until he was assigned to my small discussion group when he was a Confirmation candidate. That is when I got to know and love him. It makes me smile to think of the times that he came up to me at Mass to tell me his latest news. What a blessing it was to see him grow from a teenager to a family man. This loss makes me feel like someone shot me with a stun-gun. It is too soon and too sudden. But we know that in every life Heaven is the goal. And Randy is there with our Lord!

When the sunny skies turn from blue to gray,I can't help but wonder just what you would say?

I wonder if you know how many lives you have touched, do you know that people here love you so much?

Can you even know how many dreams you made come true, or if you can hear the voices saying I love you?

Do you know how many lives you have changed, and how many lives you completely rearranged?

I wish we could have just one more year, you bring so mucn joy and laughter to everyone here.

Do you know you'll be greatly missed by us all?

Just one more laugh, one more time to see you walk through the door another smile, another story, another hug, another day...Just one more.
