Richard Lawrence Aden passed away peacefully on January 8, 2014 at the age of 81 at his home in Long Beach. Richard was born in Davenport, Iowa on June 3, 1932. He moved to Rifle, Colorado when he was a teenager, graduating from high school early to join the Marines. After being dishcarge from the Marine Corps he returned to Rifle and married Gail Bessire in 1956. He worked in banking oing construction loans for most of his career. Richard enjoyed his many yeaers of volunteerism to the Long Beach Police and was honred to be made a Lifetime & Emeriti Honorary member of the Long Beach Police Officers Association in 2013. He also belonged to the Benevolent Order of Elks, the American Legion, and the National Rifle Assn. He is survived by his wife, Gail; son DeWitt (De) Aden; and daughter DAra Osborn & son -in-law Rustan; 6 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren. Funeral service is Friday, January 17, 2014, 10:00 a.m. at Luyben Family Dilday-Mottell at 5161 Arbor Rd., Long Beach. Interment will follow at Green Hills Memorial Park at 27501 S. Western Ave., Rancho Palos Verdes. There will be a reception at the Police Officers Park at 1p.m. In lieu of flowers please donate to the Long Beach Widow's Emergency & Scholarship Trust Fund.
