Virginia I. Korthof, age 84, of Hayward, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 16, 2014 surrounded by family at Water's Edge Care Center in Hayward.
Virginia was born November 7, 1929 in Shell Lake WI the daughter of John and Maude (Trepania) Clyde. She was raised in the Springbrook area and graduated from Spooner High School. She married Gerrit Korthof Jr. in December 1948. She worked at various occupations before her employment at Sawyer County in the Human Services Department for 24 years before she retired in 1994.
Virginia had many talents, but she especially loved gardening and took pride in her beautiful flowers. She loved classic country music, cooking, baking, making wreaths and centerpieces, playing cards, going to yard sales, Jeopardy, and hosting meals for family and friends. She was a proud LCO tribal member.
Virginia is survived by her children Dianne (Jeff) Ince of Hayward, Patti Jarvis of Rice Lake, Sheri (Steve) Hanes of Ashland, and Gerrit John (Jan) Korthof of Coon Rapids, MN. She is also survived by her grandchildren Kerry (Rich) Hager, Courtney Theilig, Jamie Corbine, Kelly (Adam) Strapon, and Melissa Spero. Virginia will also be missed by her 16 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister Delores Clyde, brothers John Elvin and Donald Clyde, and Gerrit Korthof Jr.
A memorial service was held March 21st at Anderson-Nathan-Koerpel Funeral Home in Hayward with Rev. Gary Hilgendorf officiating. Inurnment will be at the Earl Cemetery in the Spring 2014.
