Wanda Jean Armstrong, born February 12, 1932, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on May 10, 2012. She was so gracious, beautiful and witty, right down to her last breath. They raised three children here in Winnemucca at which time Wanda worked at the "Sonoma Inn", "The Red Bull, Humboldt Hotel and last and her most favorite "Keith's Model T" for Courtney Keith, the owner and founder of the casino restaurant. Mom was known for her fiery red hair and her cascading beehive she wore. Never a hair out of place and always greeted with a smile and a kind word. She was the Fiery Red Head known by many.
Wanda and Slats moved to El Paso in 1977 when he was transferred by his company, Roadway Express". There they lived until 1993 from which they moved back to Winnemucca to retire. Gardening, raising roses and just relaxing became their hobbies. They had many good years here together.
