William D. McIntosh, 81, of Athens, entered into rest Thursday, June 7, 2012. He was born May 11, 1931 in Battle Creek to Duncan C. and Dorothy E. (Wall) McIntosh. He married Lois Ann Michielson in Vicksburg on April 30, 1956 and built a house outside of Athens, where they resided for 56 years. She survives.
Bill lived in the Athens area all of his life. He enlisted in the Army from 1951 – 1953. He worked at General Motors in Kalamazoo for 27 years, retiring in 1993. He was an avid bowler, hunter and golfer. He enjoyed gardening, being outside and tinkering with cars. He was a loyal Detroit Lions fan. Bill also enjoyed taking his children and grandchildren fishing, for long walks and for rides on "Old Alice" the tractor. Every night he took a car ride with his loving wife.
He is survived by his wife, Lois, a daughter, Nancy (Keith) Tack of Ceresco, two sons; Allen McIntosh of Battle Creek and Robert (Raeann) McIntosh of Athens, 5 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and one on the way, a brother, James McIntosh and brother-in-law, Salty Kline both of Athens. He was preceded in death by his parents 2 brothers and 2 sisters.
Visitation will be Sunday, June 10, 2012 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Putnam Funeral Home in Union City. Graveside services, with Military Honors, will be held Monday at 1:00 P.M. at Ft. Custer National Cemetery in Augusta, MI Memorial contributions may be made to Oaklawn Hospice. You may leave an online tribute by visiting www.putnamfuneralhome.com
