Addison Olie Logan, Major General (Ret.),

Olie passed away on Saturday, October 5, 2013. Olie was a native of Birmingham, Alabama and a graduate of Samford University. He was 85 years old.
He was preceded in death by his father, Horace A. Logan, and his mother, Mable Blankenship Logan. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Romese Blankenship Logan; his sister Joan Adams of Birmingham; his son Kevin Logan (Susan) of Destin, Florida; his daughter, Lisa Logan Johnston (Randy) of Birmingham. He has six wonderful grandchildren, Lindsay Johnston Brown (Jake), Logan Johnston, Jamie Johnston, Annie Logan, Sarah Jane Logan and Katie Logan.
His military career with the Air National Guard and United States Air Force began in 1948 and continued with 40 years of service until his retirement in 1988. Olie served in Korea, France and Germany. He was a command pilot and spent his military career in tactical air command of the USAF and retired as Commander of 117 Air National Guard. He was awarded the Air Force Distinguished Service Medal while serving in Europe. He was awarded the Legion of Merit while serving in the United States. Olie was honored with numerous awards and decoration from the USAF and State of Alabama throughout his forty years of service. He also completed the Air War College, Air Command and Staff College and other USAF schools during his military career.
His past civic affiliations include the National Guard Association of the United States, The National Guard Association of Alabama, Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, Quiet Birdman, Birmingham Rotary, and past President of the Air Force Association, Chapter 100.
Visitation is at 1pm on October 8 at Elmwood Chapel with a Service at 2pm.
