CHATHAM – Agnes D. Galop, 88, of Chatham died peacefully at Liberty Commons Nursing Home on Saturday, April 5, 2014.
Born on January 24, 1926 in Newark, NJ, she was the wife of the late William J. Galop, Sr. and a beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
She is survived by her sons William J. Galop, Jr. and his wife Michele of Harwich, MA, Paul A. Galop and his wife Laurie of Chatham, MA, Albert S. Galop and his wife Valeria of Roanoke, VA, and her daughters Rita Seipp-Wlodarczyk and her husband Tony of Macungie, PA, and Amy Wolfe and her husband Larry of Scottsdale, AZ. She also leaves six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
As a long-time resident of Whippany, NJ, she was a tireless educator in the Hanover Twp. School system for over 30 years. Upon her retirement from education, she became a highly successful Realtor earning many awards and recognitions.
She relocated to Chatham, MA in 1996 and became actively involved in the community with the Chatham A's of the Cape Cod Baseball League holding numerous positions. Her passion for Cape Cod Baseball League games was endless as she attended many games over the years perched on the hill behind home plate at Veteran's Field in Chatham. She volunteered many hours at the Consignment Shop at Saint Christopher's Episcopal Church in Chatham and was a strong supporter of local food pantries. She was also a volunteer at the Chatham Council on Aging and F.I.S.H.
Visiting hours will be held from 4PM to 7PM on Thursday, April 10, 2014 at Nickerson Funeral Home at 87 Crowell Road, Chatham, MA with a service at 10AM on Friday also at Nickerson Funeral Home. Burial will be private.
