Alan B. Chapman, also known as "Chap and Pep," age 73, of Tiverton, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, October 10, 2013. He was the loving husband of Lillian A. (Lachapelle) Chapman with whom he just celebrated 50 years of marriage.
Born in Fall River, a son of the late Robert S. and Ida Mae (Wanzer) Chapman, he lived in Fall River for many years before moving to Tiverton 43 years ago.
A Veteran of The United States Army he served during the Korean War. He worked as a Machinist Supervisor at Reflek Corporation in Fall River for over 20 years and then as the Maintenance Supervisor at LaSalette Shrine for over 10 years before retiring in 2002. After retirement, he thoroughly enjoyed driving school bus #14; carrying student's grades 1 through 12, for First Student Bus Company of Portsmouth.
He was a member of the International Brotherhood Teamsters Local 251. A Harley Davidson enthusiast, he was an avid Red Sox and New England Patriots fan. He enjoyed traveling with his wife, and especially loved chauffeuring his grandchildren wherever they needed to go.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters; Lynn M. Pimental and her husband Rick of Somerset, Kimberly A. Chapman of Fall River, three grandchildren; Paul "P.J." Chapman-Alves Jr. and Hailey Lynn Chapman who he raised from a young age and Kelcie Pimental, two sisters; Ruth Windle of Fall River, Joan Ayers and her husband Gerry of Texas, and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends. He was brother of the late George Chapman, Doris Pickens, and Elsie Kehoe.
His Funeral will be held Tuesday, October 15, 2013 at 8:30AM from the WARING-SULLIVAN HOME OF MEMORIAL TRIBUTE at BIRCHCREST, 189 Gardner's Neck Rd., Swansea, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00AM in St. Theresa's Church, 265 Stafford Rd., Tiverton. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours Monday from 5:00 to 8:00PM. In lieu of flowers contributions in his honor may be made to a fund established for his grandchildren mailing information will be provided at the visitation. Burial private.
