Alice Martin Rosenberger
Passed away peacefully January 26, 2013, age 97.
Born in Moorhead, MN to Burl and Ethyl Martin on July 8, 1915. She moved with her family to Whittier, CA in her early childhood. Alice attended Whittier High School, Whittier College, and graduated from UC Berkeley, 1937, BA degree. Upon completion of additional certification at UC Berkeley during 1938, she returned to Whittier, securing an Art faculty position at Whittier High School.
Marrying her childhood sweetheart, Dr. Homer "Bill" Rosenberger, Jr. in Whittier on 25 July 1939, enjoying over 68 years together. While raising a family, she was actively involved in the Whittier community. Alice served on numerous boards and committees, holding various positions of office, and becoming life members of; Whittier College Auxiliary, Presbyterian Intercommunity Hospital Auxiliary, PEO -BJ Chapter, Pi Beta Phi, charter and sustaining member of the Whittier Assistance League. She volunteered countless hours for the Red Cross, United Way, Boy Scouts of America, Girl Scouts USA, YMCA, and Friends Church of Whittier.
Alice lived a full and exciting life with her husband Bill and family, enjoying travel together, skiing, golfing, fishing, camping, and sailing. One of her favorite leisure activities was spending time along the California coastline. She was an outstanding individual, who was always there when anyone needed her help. Alice remained creative, positive, and optimistic, along with boundless energy and hard work ethic. Inspiring character traits that influenced everyone around her.
Alice cherished her family and grand kids. Preceded in death by her loving husband Bill in 2007, Alice is survived by her three children and respective spouses Dr. Richard and Melody Rosenberger, Dr. Norval and Carol Hadley, Ed and Kate Rosenberger, along with her 5 grandchildren; Richard, Kyle, Nick, CJ, and Liz.
A Celebration of Alice's life will be held at Rose Hills Memorial Chapel, Friday, February 8, 2013 at 1pm. Rose Hills Memorial Park & Mortuary, 3888 Workman Mill Road, Whittier, Calif. 90601 (562) 699-0921
