Mr. Allen L. Stephens, age 61, passed away Monday at East Georgia Regional Medical Center. He was born in Statesboro and graduated from Statesboro High School in 1969. Allen worked for Great Dane Trailers and International Paper Meldrim Facility for many years before recently joining the staff of Stubbs Oil Company. He enjoyed spending time with his family and adored his grandchildren. Allen attended the Register Baptist Church and was preceded in death by his father Joseph Allen Stephens, Jr.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy Green Stephens; his children, Ja (Jayna) Stephens of Metter, Allison (Walt) Strickland and Ben Stephens, all of Statesboro; his mother, Geneva Stephens of Register; his sister, Diane S. Olliff of Statesboro; his brother, Randy F. Stephens of Grayson, Ga.; five grandchildren, Caitlin Sills, Caroline Sills, Sophie Strickland, Catherine Stephens, and Wade Strickland; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Albert (Roberta) Green, Susan Crawford, Elwyn (Tommy) Godfrey, all of Marietta, and Mitch (Millie) Green of Savannah.
Visitation will be held Wednesday from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. at Hodges-Moore Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be Thursday at 11:00 A.M. in the Chapel of Hodges-Moore Funeral Home.
Interment will be in Eastside Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Allen L. Stephens Trust Fund at Sea Island Bank.
