Alva Mae Adams, 89, passed away on Tuesday evening, November 8, 2011. Born in Nash County, NC; she was one of ten children of William Albert Murray and Mary Autney Morgan Murray. Alva Mae retired from Kerr Drug as a Pharmacy Assistant and was also a private nanny.
She is survived by her children: Pamelia Matthews and husband Dan, of Raleigh, Kirk Adams and wife Amy, of Raleigh and Kelly Adams and husband Michael Voors, of Winterville, NC; grandchildren, Joseph Matthews, Jr. and wife Christy, Byron Matthews and wife Martha, Julie Cowan, Jeni Lowrance and Ben Grant; great-grandchildren: Abigail, Elysia, Paul, Victoria, Kayleigh, Cameron, Karsyn and Mary Kathryn; and by numerous nieces, nephews and other family and friends.
Alva Mae was preceded in death by her husband, Malcolm Byron Adams; six brothers, two sisters and an infant sister; and by a grandson-in-law, Doug Cowan.
Visitation will be held on Saturday afternoon, November 12, 2011 from 2-3 PM at Mitchell Funeral Home. A Funeral Service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 3 PM, with interment to follow at Raleigh Memorial Park.
