Funeral services for Alwyn "Bill" Blanchette, 71, of Copperas Cove are scheduled for 11:30 a.m. Friday, February 11, 2011 at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home of Copperas Cove. A visitation will be held prior to the funeral service, beginning at 9:30 a.m.
Burial will full military honors will follow at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen.
Mr. Blanchette passed away at Scott & White Hospital, Temple, TX on Sunday, Feb. 6, 2011.
Alwyn Joseph Blanchette was born November 20, 1939 in Edinburg, Texas to Alwyn J. Sr. and Evelyn M. (Sidwell) Blanchette. He retired from the US Army after serving over twenty years and in two tours of Vietnam. Bill married Johanna Schmidt in Ansbach, Germany on November 8, 1962. He was a member of the Military Historical Vehicle Society.
Survivors include his wife, Johanna Blanchette, of Copperas Cove; a son, Norman Blanchette of Abilene; two daughters, Brigitte Blanchette-Thompson and Christina Blanchette-Miller, both of Copperas Cove; and seven grandchildren.
