Andrew M. Cervini, 94, passed away peacefully on May 17, 2013 while under hospice care in his home in Toms River, New Jersey. Andrew treasured his family and is survived by his wife of 71 years, Mary Elizabeth Bachmann Cervini, 92, their children, Patricia Vivian (Ginger Rebstock), Michael Cervini (Susan Brown Cervini), and Elizabeth Manvell (Arthur Elfenbein), grandchildren Elizabeth Vivian, Benjamin Manvell, Matthew Vivian, Justin Cervini, Jessica Manvell, and Scott Cervini and two great granddaughters, Molly Vivian Ford and Marian Rose Davis. Andrew grew up in Harlem NYC and married Mary in 1942. He served with the US Navy during WWII and Mary joined him on the West Coast until his discharge. They returned to NYC and in 1955 moved their family from the Bronx to Freeport, Long Island. For over forty years Andrew worked as a lathe operator for various manufacturers in the area. In 1984 they retired to Toms River to be near family. Andrew loved history and was an avid reader and story teller right up to his passing. He was drawn to the ocean and, while able, enjoyed walking the Seaside Heights boardwalk.
In consideration of his love of the Jersey Shore and the damage caused by Superstorm Sandy, memorial contributions may be made to the Seaside Heights Robin Hood Relief Fund. https://www.robinhood.org/sandyfund
Andrew was interred at the Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, in Arneytown, NJ under the direction of Anderson and Campbell Funeral Home in Toms River.
