Angel Eduardo Rijos Gomez "Eddie"
Born to the late Fidel and Gloria Rijos, 7 Oct. 1946 in Cayey, PR. Eddie passed at 66 at Shands Cancer Hospital at University of Florida, Gainesville on April 2, 2013. He was predeceased by his father, Fidel A. Rijos and his brother, Fidel A. Rijos II. "Eddie" is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Aida L. Ortiz; mother, Gloria Gomez, sister, Luz E. Rijos sons, Angel E. Rijos II of Aguas Buenas, Puerto Rico, Jose E. Rijos of Chicopee, Massachusetts and Fidel A. Rijos III of Laredo, Texas; 7 grandchildren, Angel E. Rijos III, Ledif M. Rijos, Angelica M. Rijos, Fidel A. Rijos IV, Amahia L. Rijos, Cullen, Yadimar, Paola, Alondra and several nieces and nephews.
Eddie graduated from Agustin Stahl High School in 1964 and received a BBA in Business Administration from the University of Puerto Rico in 1974. He married Aida Ludy Ortiz Torres in 1966, and they lived together in Bayamon, PR, before relocating to Florida.
Eddie was a former Corporate Security Director of the Puerto Rico Telephone Company and retired on 1995. He was passionate of military, law enforcement and security. He was a founder and member of the TAU ALPHA CHI fraternity from Bayamon, PR. Eddie was also a member of the Bayamon Rotary Club of Bayamon, PR. He served for 24 years as a member of the 156th Security Forces Squadron of the Muniz Air National Guard Base, Carolina PR.
Angel was an active member of the Saint Clair Catholic Church of Deltona, FL. He loved to travel and spend time with his family in Puerto Rico, Massachusetts, and Texas.
Visitation for family and friends and Funeral Service will be Sunday, April 7th from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Deltona Memorial Funeral Home, 1295 Saxon Blvd., Orange City. Burial proceedings will initiate Monday, April 8th at 10:00 AM from Deltona Memorial Funeral Home towards Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL. Flowers are welcome.
