Anne C. Avery, 81, of 677 Court St., Keene, died Sunday, October 27, 2012 at the Genesis Keene Center following a period of failing health.
She was born in Lawrence, MA., on April 19, 1931, the daughter of Carl M. Maddox, of New Hampshire, and Agnes M. (Hourigan) Maddox, originally of Ireland. As a child, Anne moved to Marlow and her mother married Harry Loveren, late of Marlow. Anne graduated from Keene High School in 1948.
She worked as a clerk in various positions including a number of years at the former Cheshire National Bank. She later received nurses training at the Brattleboro Memorial Hospital and was a LPN. She worked for several years in the nursing profession until a stroke in the early 1990s which necessitated her retirement.
She married Gordon G. Davis, late of Marlow, on August 16, 1952 in Keene. She latter married David J Avery, late of Keene, on January 23, 1982 in Keene. They celebrated 13 years of marriage before his death on October 24, 1995.
She and David both enjoyed and were members of the Full Gospel Business Men's Fellowship.
She is survived by her children: Gordon G. Davis, of Allston, Massachusetts; and Andrew Davis, of Bradford; her step-child, David R. Avery, of Pittsfield, Massachusetts; several grandchildren; and her late husband's cousin, Harry Meinzer of Hopkinton, and nephew, Allen B. Hall, of Brentwood, and others.
There will be no public calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, Nov. 2nd, 2012, at 10:00 AM at St. Bernard's Church, 173 Main St., Keene, NH. Burial will follow in the Marlow Village Cemetery in Marlow, NH.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Anne C. Avery's name to the Pregnancy Resource Center of the Monadnock Region, 100 Washington Street, Keene, NH 03431 or to any Christian school.
