Annie Grace Alley

September 10, 1930 - July 9, 2011
Annie Grace Alley, a resident of Newton, the Bay Springs Community, died Saturday, July 9, 2011, at Flowers Hospital. She was 80.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 12, 2011, at Bay Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Scott Wyatt and Rev. Johnny Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Byrd Funeral Home on West Main directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Monday. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Camp Victory, 363 Victory Circle, Samson, AL 36477.

Ms. Alley was born September 10, 1930, in Houston County and graduated from Wicksburg High School in 1948. She was employed with the Houston County Health Department and Farm Bureau Insurance Company and later moved to Lincoln, Nebraska where she was employed with Back to the Bible Broadcasting for 30 years. She returned to Dothan, to the farm she was raised on in 1995, where she lived the remainder of her life. Ms. Alley served on the Board of Directors for Camp Victory and was a member of Bay Springs Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School, served as Church Treasurer, sang in the choir and worked with the youth of the church. She lived a Godly life as a Christian and was an example by her actions.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Carlton and Mattie Lou Boswell Alley, two brothers, Jimmy Alley and Bill Alley, one niece, two great nieces and one great nephew.

Survivors include four sisters, Jeanette Parker, Walstonburg, NC, Carolyn Brown (Jackie), Clayhatchee, Mary Cook (Joe), Keithville, LA, Sara Smith (Freddie), Albany, GA; a brother, Ray Alley (Madge), Newton; five nephews; nine nieces; eighteen great nieces and nephews and other extended family members.

Serving as pallbearers will be Carl Parker, Tommy Alley, Scott Alley, Tim Brown, Joey Cook and Jimmy Skipper.
