Antoinette (Toni) Palanzo Nissly, 89, of Danbury, died at Danbury Hospital on Mar 5, 2014 from complications after heart surgery. She was the wife of the late Loren B. Nissly.
A lifelong resident of Danbury, Toni was a daughter of the late Daniel and Josephine (Angelotti) Palanzo.
Toni worked for many years in the housekeeping department of Danbury Hospital. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
She will be sadly missed by her sons: Gerald and his wife, Peggy, Martin and his wife, Gloria. Her daughters: Anita Godfrey and Lore Genender and her husband, Jay. Her 10 grandchildren : Jacqueline McCool (Joseph) Melissa Lawlor (John) Elizabeth Nissly, Monica Barrett(Raymond) Martin Nissly and Holly Broadhurst (William) Sean and Colleen Godfrey, Tyler and Ella Genender; 11 great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and her sister-in-law Evelyn Palanzo.
Besides her husband of 68 years, Toni was pre deceased by two brothers, Gerald and Michael Palanzo and three sisters Marie Tesstani, Bernice Novella and Anna Spina.
The family would like to extend their gratitude and thanks to the staff and doctors of 8W of the Danbury Hospital including Dr. Abhijith Hegde, Matthew Proac , Susan Mani and nurse Ailile; and the staff of Bethel Health Care for their compassionate care of Toni.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 10am at St. Gregory the Great Church, Danbury. Burial will follow in St. Peter Cemetery, Danbury.
The family will receive friends on Sunday from 4pm to 7pm at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury.
