Anton Hjalmar Austrum Jr. (Tony), lost his battle with cancer and passed away at Providence Centralia Hospital on November 16, 2010.
Tony was born in Lincoln, Nebraska on August 31, 1940 to Anton & Katheryn Austrum Sr. and grew up in Miami, Florida.
Surviving Tony is his loving friend, companion and soul mate Carol Johnson, Chehalis. Brother Richard & wife Shirley, California. Two "special" friends he met in the Navy; William (Bill) Wheeler, Yuma, Arizona, and Win Tatro, Baja, California.
Daughters; Katie Howard, Texas. Angel & Joe Polka, Pennsylvania. Sons; Stan & Joann, California. Dale, California. Preceding him in death is his sister Violet.
Tony's grandchildren are Alexis and Andrew Polka, Pennsylvania. Sidney & Derek, California. Arerick Howard, Texas. His white fuzzy dog "Rowdy".
Also surviving and helping him through his sickness are Carol's children Paul, Karen, Billy, Ken, Craig and Eric.
Tony served in the Navy for 25 years, retiring as a first class petty officer. He was aboard the USS Klondike and with the See Bees before starting his career in iron works as a welder.
Tony traveled around the country working on several industrial projects including the Apollo Space Program. Tony's hobbies included HAM radio, building computers, traveling the region in his RV, growing roses, gardening and panning for gold. Tony enjoyed listening to Bagpipe and Drum music.
Tony requested no services but asked that donations be made to the Lewis County Animal Shelter or Food Bank.
