Arlene Berg, age 71, passed away on Wednesday, November 28, surrounded by her family, after a feisty battle with cancer. She was born on March 24, 1941, in Chicago, IL, to Alexander and Mildred Numerowski. Arlene married Wallace Berg on August 1, 1964. Arlene and her family moved to Rhinelander when her children were young and she has resided here since. Arlene enjoyed going to water aerobics at The Y with her circle of friends, going out to eat, and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Arlene is survived by her husband; her two daughters, Lisa (Tim) Thorsen of Rhinelander, and Tamara (Jim Kofler) Berg of Rochester, MN; her grandchildren and great grandchildren; and her two brothers, Donny (Sonja) and Bobby Numerowski.
She was much-loved and will be missed by all, but especially by her
grandchildren, Kylie, Kassi, Katrina, and Tyler Thorsen and Cameron and Alex Berg Kofler; and her great grandchildren, Jacksen and Mason; and her "adopted" grandchildren, Andrea, Maddie and Tricia Dolch.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
At Arlene's request, a celebration of her life will be held at an open house at Lisa and Tim Thorsen's home on Saturday, December 22, from noon to 3 pm. Some of Arlene's favorite foods will be served and loving memories will be shared.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Arlene's name may be directed to the
Rhinelander District Library Children's Department, 106 N. Stevens Street Rhinelander, Wisconsin 54501. Arlene spent many wonderful hours with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren at the library. Hildebrand Russ Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. All are invited to light a candle and leave an online condolence at hildebrandfh.com.

I loved visiting with Arlene when we did water aerobics together. She had a great sense of humor and we always had so much fun, it didn't even feel like exercise. I think we worked our mouths more than anything. She will be missed.

Tammy and Lisa,
I was so sorry to hear of your Mom's passing. Even when we know its coming and is even a relief because she is now free from pain, its tough as I've found out twice.I will always remember good times at your home when we were younger and the day your mom told me I looked just like Susan Dey from the Partidge Family, long hair and all! What a compliment for a geeky uncertain preteen! May memories and time together help you get through this.Thinking of you all...
