Auburn - Armand E. Arel, 89 of New Auburn passed away Wednesday, April 17, 2013 at the Hospice House of Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice. He was born in Sanford, February 21, 1924 son of the late Ernest and Helena Guertin Arel. Armand served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II and was the recipient of the Purple Heart. He was married June 1, 1946 to Lucille Cote. He had been employed as a foreman at Lombard Shoe, retiring from Norway Shoe Company. He was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish at St. Louis Church, American Legion Post # 153 of New Auburn, New Auburn Social Club and Prospect Hill Golf course. He is survived by his wife Lucille of New Auburn; a daughter, Joan Giguere and husband Robert of Lisbon Falls; a grandson, Rodney Giguere and wife Rhonda of Scarborough; three great grand daughters, Jaimie, Jenna and Jessica Giguere; two sisters, Pauline Janelle of Tolland, Connecticut and Anita Olehowski and husband Paul of Lewiston.
