Arthur P. "Art" Susco, 69, of Solvay, passed away peacefully on February 5, 2013 at his winter home in Mesa, AZ. Before retirement, Art worked as a heavy machine operator for over 50 years at his family owned business, Solvay Construction. He was a volunteer firefighter over 20 years for Lakeside Fire Department. Art enjoyed woodworking and making beautiful items for his family and friends at the woodshop in Mesa, where he was also a shop supervisor. Art was an avid race car fan, and classic and antique car collector. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, tinkering with his '50 Chevy, and was just getting into Quarter Midgets with his grandson. He was also on a drag racing team for many years which he enjoyed. He loved having his morning coffee with the guys at the diner. Art will be loved and missed by everyone. He was a loving and devoted husband and father.
Art is survived by his beloved wife of 45 ½ years, the former Rosemary Neri, he was so proud of his 2 children, Laurieanne (Roy) D'Agostino and Joseph (Nicole) Susco, 4 beautiful grandchildren, Amber, Gianna, Kadin and Anthony, who were the joys of his life. Also surviving are his sister, Rosemary (Joe) Sardo, mother-in-law, Rose Neri, 2 brothers-in-law, Joseph (Karen) Neri and Gerard (Lisa Thurston) Neri, several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who loved him dearly and will miss him very much.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday February 25th at 9:15 am in BAGOZZI TWINS FUNERAL HOME, Solvay, and 10 am in Our Lady of Peace Church, Lakeland, where a funeral Mass will be celebrated. Burial will follow in Assumption Cemetery, Syracuse. Calling hours are Sunday from 2 to 5 pm at BAGOZZI TWINS FUNERAL HOME, 2601 Milton Ave.
