Arthur married the love of his life, Marie Walling, on August 19, 1950. Arthur started working for the Village of Kingsley as their first paid employee and retired from the Village after many years of dedicated service. For 59 years Arthur was a volunteer firefighter for the Kingsley Fire Department and also volunteered as an ambulance attendant. He also drove a school bus for the Kingsley Public Schools, and was a Funeral Director’s Assistant for Covell-Smith Funeral Home. He was a member of the Kingsley United Methodist Church, the Traverse City Senior Center Outreach Program, and the Buckley Old Engine Show. In his free time, Arthur enjoyed camping and hunting.
Arthur is survived by his wife Marie, children Nancy (Randy) Brown, Keith (Donna) Bowman, grandchildren Sara, Jennifer, Casey, and A. J., great-grandchildren Madison and Logan, and brothers Les (Shirley) Bowman, and Edward (Nancy) Bowman. He is preceded in death by his parents, son Kim Bowman, and siblings Anna Clous, Jean Flory, Harold Bowman, Edsel Bowman, and Geneva Brownell.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday April 16, 2013 from 6 to 8pm at Covell Funeral Home in Kingsley. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday April 17, 2013 at 1pm with visitation one hour prior at Covell Funeral Home in Kingsley.
