Arthur Lee Malone,
64, of Tempe passed away on July 27, 2012, with his family by his side in Chandler, Arizona. He was born on March 20, 1948, in Tyler, Texas to Ben and Izora Malone. He earned a Bachelors and Masters degree in Elementary Education from Arizona State University. His accomplishments include being inducted into the Arizona State University's Sports Hall of Fame as well as being inducted into the Santa Cruz Valley Union High School Hall of Fame, October 15, 2010. Art was a second round draft pick for the Atlanta Falcons in 1970. A retired Atlanta Falcons and Philadelphia Eagles fullback, he is listed as number seventy-seven in Arizona's Athletes of the Century. After he retired from football he worked in the Dean of Students office at Arizona State University. Then he worked as a Program Coordinator in the Athletic Department at Arizona State University. After working for twenty-two years at Arizona State University, he retired. His favorite pastimes included going to Park N Swap, fishing, and spending time with his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; Ben and Izora Malone, brother; D.M. Malone, and daughter; Sonja Malone. He is survived by his wife; Carolyn J. Malone, children; Art Malone Jr., D'Anne McDaniel, Erika Lugo, Sasha Malone, Ilana Malone, and Erin Malone, grandchildren: Carrissa Moon, Nicole White, Faith Malone, Donovan McDaniel, Keon McDaniel, Jeremiah Kirkland, Saint Fields, and Josiah Malone, and by one great grandson John White.
