Augusto "Tito" Jo Arquilla bravely passed away at his home that he built and loved in Spring Valley, California at the grand age of 82 on May 9, 2014. He was born in Cavite City, Philippines on March 10th, 1932. Through mutual friends, Augusto was introduced to his beautiful wife Lilia Arat Arquilla in Zamboanga City, where he eventually returned and married her on August 20, 1966.
At the young age of 20, Augusto enlisted in to the United States Navy, where he served 20 honorable years, part of which was during the Vietnam War. After the retiring from the Navy, he earned a certificate in Construction Technology from Southwestern College, enabling him to build the home that he was so deeply fond of. After working as a civilian contractor at Camp Pendleton for several years, Augusto became heir to his family's estate, and moved on to manage his investments in Metro Manila, travelling extensively between his two homes in San Diego and Cavite City.
An avid Sunday golfer, Augusto was a member of the Fil-Am Golf Association and competed in several tournaments, winning various awards and accolades. He enjoyed fixings cars, even amassing a collection of German autos, some of which didn't make it out of his garage. He also loved to cook, garden his extensive collection of fruit trees, catch a Sunday football game, and spend time with his grandkids and family.
Augusto lives on through his devoted wife, his daughter Tess Arquilla Cohen, his sons Andrew and John Arquilla, and four amazingly beautiful grandchildren Truman and Tevia Cohen, and Dally and Braulio Arquilla.
"Dad, you are greatly missed but we know that you're always with us. We love you!"
