Aurelie Frances Agresta, a resident of Danbury, Connecticut, died on August 25, 2012, at the age of 83. She was born on April 7, 1929, in New Rochelle, New York, to Aurelie T. Langley and Frank T. Bergin.
Aurelie graduated from St. Gabriel Roman Catholic High School in New Rochelle, New York University (B.S. - Biology), and Maryknoll Theological Seminary (M.A. - Theology).
After many years as a homemaker, Aurelie was employed as the Director of Religious Education for St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Church in Bedford, New York, and the St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Mt. Kisco, New York.
Aurelie is survived by her seven children, Joseph, Aurelie, Thomas, Paul, William, Marguerite and Emily; eleven grandchildren, Michael, Matthew, Yoshiko, Jimmy, Paul, Anthony, Kathleen, Joseph, Capri, Cooper and Carsen; her sister Mary Clare; her brother-in law Fred; her brother Frank; her five nieces and nephews, Donna Marie, Cindy, Mary Clare, Christopher and Timothy; and her extended family including Sue, Tony, Elizabeth, Elaine, Lisa, and Jeff. Joseph Anthony Agresta, Aurelie's beloved husband of 58 years, predeceased her by a little more than a year.
Aurelie's life was primarily devoted to her family and the incredible task of successfully raising seven children to be honest and industrious individuals. She looked forward to family celebrations and holidays that would never be complete without "Aurelie's cake". In her later years, Aurelie's greatest pleasure came from spending time with her many grandchildren and she would light up whenever they were around. Aurelie had a lifelong interest in flowers and plants, reading, understanding her religion, and attending mass. She was particularly devoted to her brother and sister that were a source of great strength and joy for her. Aurelie was an active parishioner at St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church in Ridgefield, Connecticut.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30am on Wednesday August 29th in St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church, Ridgefield. Burial will be in the Milltown Rural Cemetery, Southeast, NY.
The family will receive friends at the Green Funeral Home 57 Main Street, Danbury on Tuesday August 28th from 6 thru 8pm.
