Bernard P. Bushey 81, of Branch Road, Roxbury, NH, died Friday, March 14, 2014, while vacationing in Yuma, Arizona.
He was born in Keene, NH, March 17, 1932, the son of Paul L. and Cora M. (Duquette) Bushey. He grew up in Keene, graduating from Keene High School where he was a member of the varsity football team.
Mr. Bushey was a Marine Corp veteran serving in the military police during the Korean Conflict. He was a life member of the Gordon Bissell American Legion Keene Post #4 and the Veteran of Foreign Wars Post #799 of Keene.
He was well known in the area for his talents as a finish carpenter and cabinet maker. Prior to his retirement, he worked at Keene High School for several years. Following retirement, he continued his passion for woodworking creating intarsia wood art designs.
He is survived by two daughters, Cindi Lafromboise and her husband, Bruce, of Yuma, Dolores Durant of Keene; six grandchildren, Joe Durant, John Durant, James Durant, Kristy McLaughlin, Denise Cawlina, Jessica Anderson; many great-grandchildren; a sister, Patricia Bourassa of Keene; several nieces and nephews; and his loving companion and best friend, Edith Blake of Keene. His wife of 44 years, Clara I. (Bonner) Bushey, died August 24, 2001. He was predeceased by a son, Wallace Durant; a grandson, Kyle DeCoff; and two brothers, Richard Bushey and Roy Bushey.
A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Saturday, March 22, 2014 at 11:00 AM in St. Bernard Church, 185 Main Street, Keene. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Main Street, Keene. Family and friends are invited to call on Friday from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at the Foley Funeral Home, 49 Court Street, Keene.
