Bernard Forney Huffman

Bernard Forney Huffman, 84, of Newton died Friday, February 22, 2013 at Catawba Valley Medical Center.

Born July 4, 1928 in Catawba County, he was the son of the late Ottis Roy and Stacie Dellinger Huffman. He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict and was a member of St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Startown. Mr. Huffman was the owner/operator of Forney's Greenhouse and was an avid bowler.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Joan Huffman, four sisters, and four brothers.

Survivors include his wife, Willie R. Huffman, daughters and sons-in-law, Carol Sigman and husband Martin of Conover, and Tamara Lutes of Fulton, MO; sons and daughter-in-law David Huffman and wife Carmen of Hiddenite, and Eric Huffman of Ft. Mill, SC; step-son Jimmy Raley and wife Rosie of Cary; grandchildren Jacob and Sierra Huffman, numerous loving nieces and nephews.

A Service of Remembrance will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 25, 2013 at St. Pauls Lutheran Church. Rev. O. Ralph Kraft Jr. will officiate and burial will follow in St Paul's Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 9:30 am to 10:45 am on Monday, February 25 at the church.
