Ms Bessie Greer age 90 of Valentine Branch Rd. Cannon, KY, departed this life on Monday, June 24, 2013 at her home. She was the daughter of James and Ella Elizabeth (Rash) Greer born to them on January 17, 1923 in War Eagle, West Virginia. Miss Greer had a masters degree in education and had been an elementary school teacher in Perry Co., KY and also in Dickenson Co., Virginia. She was a member of the East Barbourville Baptist Church.
She is preceded in death by her parents, James and Ella Greer, four brothers, Ed, Charles, Howard and Stewart Greer and one sister, Virginia Wilson Greer.
Survivors include her caring niece, DeRhonda Hubbs and her husband Chris of Cannon, two brothers, Jimmie Greer and wife Maxine of North Carolina and Robert Greer of Indiana, one sister, Mary Greer Bush of Virginia along with several other nieces, nephews and friends are left to mourn her passing.
Funeral services for Ms Bessie Greer will be conducted in the Hampton Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, June 27, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. James Vandy officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Resthaven Memorial Cemetery in Jeff, KY. Hampton Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
Friends will be received at the Hampton Funeral Home on Thursday from 11:00 a.m. until the hour of service at 1:00p.m. Family & Friends will meet at the Rest Haven Cemetery in Jeff, KY at 3:30 p.m.
