My grandmother Bettie was a beautiful woman with charming wit and a remarkable sense of humor. She was generous, kind, and full of love and laughter.
I will always remember the summers at her home by the lake. The late night games of dice and poker with her, my grandfather Lowell, and the rest of our family were some of my favorite times there. I always loved when it came down to her and one other person competing for the win of a big pot. The way she would get so excited, even though it was only comprised of the dimes and quarters we would play for; and how she would send a friendly curse word or two through a great big smile to the person who had won the hand.
I loved that about her, her smile, her signature laugh, her happiness. I don't think I have a single memory of her angry or even unhappy. I know that's not because she was never sad or angry. I know that sometimes it's the face she put on for other people's sake, but she will always be my inspiration to laugh away the difficult times in life. I will miss her, as I know everyone whose life she touched will.

I am sorry to hear of Bettie's passing. I worked with her for nearly 5 years at Lansing General Hospital in the Social Services department. I later worked with Scott and John Ammerman in Mason. She was a grand lady. My sympathy goes out to al of the family.
