Betty Jane Alsop age 81 died at her home in Waldorf on October 4, 2010. Betty was born August 27, 1929 in Washington, D.C.. Survived by her husband of 59 years Frank Alsop, daughter: Barbara Newton and her husband Alan, son: Paul Alsop, Grandchildren: Cheryl and Ryan Newton, brothers: Richard Kettner and wife Mary, Peter Kettner and wife Carolyn, James Kettner and wife Carolyn, sister: Linda Mortensen and husband Bill. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents, Edward and Helen Kettner, sister Jerry Kinsey and brother Jack Kettner. Mrs. Alsop previously was employed as a pediatric nurse at Children's Hospital. She was a member of The First Baptist Church of Waldorf, Maryland. She enjoyed movies, dining and traveling. She loved animals, especially her cats, but most of all her family. Family will receive friends at The Huntt Funeral Home, 3035 Old Washington Road, Waldorf, Maryland, on Saturday, October 9, 2010 from 12 noon until time of service at 1:00 pm. Pastor Wayne Kempson of the First Baptist Church of Waldorf will officiate. Burial will be held at Arlington National Cemetery on Tuesday, November 2, 2010 at 11:00 am.
