KINGSVILLE - Betty Lou Barnes passed away, Wednesday, June 16, 2010. She was 76. She was born September 16, 1933 in Shawnee, Oklahoma to HE Schoonover and Ola Mae Lee Schoonover. Betty was a homemaker and a member of Retama Park Baptist Church. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.

Betty is preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Charles Schoonover. She is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, VH Barnes; three daughters, Patricia (Lou) Hollers of Crowley, Texas, Susan Barnes of Kingsville, Texas and Valerie (Mickey) Redus of Baytown, Texas. Also surviving Betty are her ten grandchildren; Samuel, Joshua, Jonathan, Michael and Benjamin Hollers, Kristopher (Rebecca), Cameron, Everett, Ethan and William Redus and two great-grandchildren; Kristyn and Brandon Hollers.

A memorial service will be held, Monday, June 21, 2010 at 11:00 AM at Retama Park Baptist Church in Kingsville, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Retama Park Baptist Church, 515 E. General Cavazos Blvd., Kingsville, Texas 78363.

Gosh, Betty always made us feel so special. She was a special person with a special family. I know she will be dearly missed by her family but also by all those who were blessed to cross her path. I admired her strength and courage the most.
