Mrs. Betty "Jo" Willis Goforth
Mrs. Goforth, age 80, of Charlotte passed away Wednesday, November 21, 2012 at Levine and Dickson Hospice House in Huntersville.
She was born July 1, 1932 in Lincolnton, North Carolina the daughter of the late Pate Willis and Hattie Barnes Willis. She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 38 years, Kennon W. Goforth; brother, Farrell Willis; and sister, Claire Leonhardt.
Jo played basketball and was a cheerleader at Shelby High School where she graduated in 1950. She enjoyed watching college basketball, loved to dance, travel and spend time with her family. Mrs. Goforth worked for the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department until her retirement after a 27 year career.
Surviving are her daughters, Karen King (Terry) and Trudy Decker-Welch (Joe Welch); grandchildren, Matthew King, Kameron King, Kizer Decker ( Jessica), and Nikki Decker; great grandchild, Jaxson Decker; sister, Helen Willis Brymer; and beloved loving nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, November 24, 2012 in the Sharon Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel, 5400 Monroe Road, Charlotte, NC 28212. Interment will follow in Sharon Memorial Park Cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the mausoleum chapel.
The family would like to thank Mrs. Debra Barron for her friendship and wonderful care of Jo throughout her illness.
