Betty Ware Brown Moore, 84, died Thursday, November 15, in her home at Carlyle Place. Mrs. Moore was born in Macon, Georgia, on October 11, 1928 and was a graduate of Miller Senior High School and the University of Georgia. She began her teaching career in Thomaston, Georgia, at R.E. Lee Institute and retired in 1993.
Because of her great love of animals, she was a member of the Humane Society and spent many hours driving around Thomaston feeding homeless dogs. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Thomaston, where she was an active member of the Fellowship Sunday School Class.
Mrs. Moore was preceded in death by her parents, William Merrell Brown and Delores Reeves Brown, her husband Kenneth J. Moore, and her niece Betty-Ware Watson Wray.
She is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Walter C. and Doe Brown Watson, her nieces and nephews, Millie Watson Jones, her husband, Stephen E. Jones, and Charles T. Wray, as well as her great nephews, Walter Charles Wray, Carter Lee Wray, and great nieces, Merritt Reeves Jones and Holland Louisa Jones.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday at Snow's Memorial Chapel, Cherry Street. Burial will be private for family only in Riverside Cemetery at a later date. Rev. John Horton will officiate. The family will greet friends beginning at 10AM Saturday before the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or Central Georgia CARES, 520 Professional Drive, Suite 2, Macon 31201.
