Betty J. Souders, 85, passed away unexpectedly and peacefully on Wednesday, October 3, 2012 in Cedar Haven where she had been a resident for over 3 years. She was born in Lebanon on July 31, 1927 to the late William White Pfautz and Ada Leininger Pfautz. Betty was the widow of Richard W. Souders who died in June 1989.
She was a fun loving character and was always young at heart. In her younger days, Betty attended many softball games with her husband either playing or umpiring. She loved going on vacations to the Steel Pier in Atlantic City and had a passion for parades often taking her young nieces.
Betty never had children of her own but treated her nieces, great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews with love, never forgetting to send birthday and holiday wishes. They all meant the world to her and she especially enjoyed seeing the little ones.
She is survived by a sister, Gloria, wife of Frederick Shertzer, Lebanon, nieces, Brenda, wife of Thomas Kunder, Lebanon, Sharon, wife of David Hunter, Temple and Linda, wife of Bruce Loser, Hummelstown. Also surviving are 7 great nieces and nephews and 8 great-great nieces and nephews who she adored.
Arrangements are entrusted to The Rohland Funeral Home with a graveside service scheduled for Tuesday, October 9, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville. There will be no viewing.
