Beverly Alexander passed away on May 11, 2011 after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Bev was born in Des Moines, IA to M.E. and Leona Schultz and grew up in Lincoln, NE She attended Pius X High School in Lincoln and graduated from the University of Nebraska.
Bev was an accomplished watercolor artist and her work was exhibited in galleries and numerous award winning juried exhibitions in Arlington, VA., Anchorage, AK, and in Colorado Springs, Vail, Breckenridge, and Ouray, CO.
Based on a grant from a private individual, Bev initiated a Professional Community Speaker Program for District 49 in the mid-1990's that brought in individuals from various professions to speak to students at District 49 schools. She received numerous commendations for her efforts to enhance the knowledge and awareness of different career opportunities for local students.
Bev enjoyed equestrian activities and spent many hours over the years training and riding her favorite horse Lucy. She and her family also enjoyed skiing, fly fishing, hiking, and camping in the Colorado high country. Bev will be remembered for her love and devotion to family and her appreciation for the beauty of nature and the outdoors.
Bev is survived by her husband of over 46 years, Jon Alexander of Black Forest and son Dennis Alexander, daughter-in-law Lesli Alexander, and grandsons Connor and Caillen Alexander of Ft. Collins. CO.
A Memorial Mass service will be held at 11AM, Tuesday, May 17, 2011 at the Our Lady of the Pines Church. Flowers may be sent to the church at 11020 Teachout Road, Colorado Springs, CO, 80908, or, memorial gifts may be provided to the Our Lady of the Pines Building Fund at the above address.
